Candidates for UB515 participants must have previously completed, within 18 months, an Ultraman or Ironman distance race or have accomplished an athletic achievement such as an ultramarathon, cycling tour or other challenging sporting event.

Race directors also look for that "something extra" in candidates - elements other than simply seeking an athletic challenge - that will generate a unique group of participants each year. So if you want to apply, make it clear what your reasons are for participating.

Athletes will only be able to participate in the event by invitation from the organization.

This is a unique event, whose main values are overcoming, simplicity, solidarity, companionship and courtesy, values represented by the Hawaiian words ALOHA (LOVE), OHANA (FAMILY) and KOKUA (SOLIDARITY).
